That's what it's called, a bow. And yes she is most certainly playing air violin, not guitar, look at the placement of the chin and her left hand, it's a violin.
Naw, shes rocking out with her air guitar and she is holding an air pick. Her head is positioned like that because she is so good that she is getting ready to pluck the air strings with her tongue (thats another dumb word). Don't some rock musicians do that? It seems like they do. Either way, she looks like a relative of Sarah's.
