little people

Um the last few days have been interesting. We mostly hung out with seminarian people and mostly ate jade garden food. I smoked a cigar on thursday. It was pretty much gross...like i said at the time, it's like drinking a bonfire. I did, however, smoke most of it. Last night we had a long discussion about what we all thought of each other in high school. I think I was not really friends with you guys during some of the drama that went on...cause I don't remember it at all. It was funny to hear now though. School is started and I am a little freaked out with all my online classes. Monica wants me to be manager, so I'll probably do that too, on top of classes. I'm sorta kinda teaching myself Italian though I haven't got that far....too lazy. I think that the next thing I make/paint will have Italian words in it.

Events in the Life of Marnee

Here are pictures from my road trip to D.C. and some sisters we had a retreat with. They are the Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of MatarĂ¡. Wonderful sisters! Also there is a glimpse of our re-modeling, a picture of Kenric and Joel using their musical skills and a really neat Catholic Cathedral in Toledo.
The Brian Flynn one may come later.

One more thing, if you haven't heard yet, Angela Koenigsknecht and Jerome Waldron are getting married!!! He proposed on Saturday and now she is wearing a beautiful diamond ring :)

Weather (Got Idea from Kenric's blog)

It is such a beautiful thing.

Many times it is sunny and hot and humid (like today, and yesterday, and tomorrow, 90s), and other times, it is cloudy, thunderstorms, just not what you want to be in most of the time, you could get killed!)

Time for some serious stuff, I guess.

Up until recently, it has been nice and easy on this blog much like the sunny weather we have been having. Now, we have had thunderstorms like crazy. I don't want to point fingers at anyone, but it isn't me. I am trying to stay out of this argument, maybe I created this post to have people not pay attention to the taunts/whatever of the other post. But since that won't work, I guess I have failed. Now, for the mushy stuff: since SKR left, not much has gone on, so I miss them whether I show it or not. Ok, I told you it was mushy. Well, I am going to go to B Fly's concert tonight. See ya in 10 or so days.

To our Buddies far away!!

Hey Guys! It feels like you have been gone forever! You all need to come home...why does it have to be another month away?? Well it looks like you are having some crazy fun over there though, that is good. We are still not doing anything crazy over here...I haven't even seen Pirates of the Carribean yet! (Which means I have to shut myself in another room when everyone else wants to talk about it). Anyway...here are some pictures from the Grand Opening at the Ark (since that is the only major event that I can think of). Actually, when I went to get these pictures, I realized these are not the ones I wanted, so I will have to get those other ones to send you. But these are a small taste I guess.
Also we are doing a lot of re-moldeling on our house, y'all will have to come see it when you get back. And we will have to do lots of other things too!

Okay...here are some better pictures.

I found this interesting on a page from Myspace.

How on earth can they expect students to pass?

It's not the fault of the student if he fails, because the year ONLY has 365 days.

Typical academic year for a student:

1. Sundays - 52, Sundays in a year, you know Sundays are for rest.
Days left 313.

2. Summer holidays - 50 where weather is very hot and difficult to study.
Days left 263.

3. 8 hours daily sleep - 130 days GONE.
Days left 141.

4. 1 hour for daily playing - (good for health) means 15 days.
Days left 126.

5. 2 hours daily for food & other delicacies (chewing properly & swallowing) means 30days.
Days left 96.

6. 1 hour for talking (man is a social being) - means 15 days.
Days left 81.

7. Exam days - per year at least 35 days.
Days left 46.

8. Quarterly, Half yearly and festival (holidays) - 40 days.
Balance 6 days.

9. For sickness- at least 3 days.
Remaining days=3.

10. Movies and functions - at least 2 days.
1 day left.

11. That 1 day is your birthday. How can you study on that day??????!!!!!!!!!!
Days left = 0

How can any student pass?

liver sandwich

Did you know that working in a dinning room is a good way to get weird compliments? I have been told that I look "studious" ( by japanese people), "very pretty" ( by little kids), " slender" ( also japanese people), and that I am a "hard worker" ( german people and chinese people). Yeah, I also get called "dearest", "sweetheart", "sweety", "hun" and "hunny" by the servers. I feel like a dog, or else a doll. Mmmm... I had strawberry short cake after dinner and it was good.

We're still alive I guess?

Hey, I guess I haven't posted in awhile, so it's about time. Thought I'd let you know I'm doing well out here. I love my job, the people and the environment. Almost every chance I get within reason, I go hiking. I've included some pictures of hikes. On my last weekend, I went with some people from the Lake House where I work on a 13 mile hike through Black Canyon. It was a great hike, but it was tough because my pack weighed about 40 pounds and I wasn't used to the weight. The others didn't pack enough water, so we had to filter some. The water was the tastiest, most chillin mountain snow runoff water I've ever had!
Ok, so the first picture is of a hike that Sarah went on with me and my co-workers. We ended up 8 miles away from where we thought we would be and there were bear prints all the heck over the place. To scare off the bears, we sang the whole way and took this crazy picture. Ooo we also forded a small river because we're just sweet like that.
Lets see, the second picture is of the campsite we stayed at in Black Canyon. There was a waterfall about 50 yds. down, so we watched the stars come out while we went to sleep to the sound of water...it was wondrous. Hehe, great word.
Third picture, me with some people hiking to Shoshone Lake. The last picture is of someone I went hiking to Fairy Falls with. We were crazy and climbed up the side of a cliff, seriously. On the way up, I was using a rock about the size of a basketball to pull myself up, it came loose and almost fell on the guy that I was hiking with. On the way back down, I fell about 5 feet and scraped up my legs pretty bad. Good times. At the top, we found hidden falls that no one else sees and sat at the edge of the waterfall pondering life. Further on on the trail, this crazy guy did a breakdancing flip thing over a boiling mudpot and almost died. This is the same guy that told a van full of British people that he just proposed to me and I said no. Weird. The British people proceeded to give me their advice on marriage and asked us to send them a wedding invitation. Yeah, it was great.
Anyway, I hope you're all doing excellent. Keep me in your prayers. I'm having a sweet time out here, but there's so much evangelizing that needs to be done! And of course, I keep ya'll guys in my prayers! Send me out some burned cds if you want...I could use some songs...and Tom, enough of the "this is what guys look like when they see Rachael." Yup. God bless and peace on earth.

Command and Conquer

Sarah, your picture looks great on the wall of the Ark! We are now planning on re-upholsering the boothes, so we will probably look to your picture for color ideas. Everyone loves the room upstairs Kenric!! They think the colors are great and a lot of people have been impressed with your pictures. Way to go!
I hope you guys are not tired of work yet. What will you do for the 4th? Big parties?
Remember, don't drink, but you can smoke all the cigars you like!
Now it's off to work I go. Oh yeah, Healing Mass tonight!

So I will post again?

Yesterday was Neil and Amber's wedding. I had a fun time. Didn't really dance that much until the very end. Neil and Amber hit a deer right before they got to their hotel. And now they are on their way to Hawaii (yup, they are going to the hospital in Hawaii).

Ben is back. Saw part of the game two of Pistons and Heat with him. They won, but the Heat stalled the pistons in the third game.

We saw X-Men 3, with 15 or so people. I saw Nick Pobocik from Veritas there and we talked for like a minute.

I think that is all that happened since I last posted.

So I am the only that is posting now?

Adam said this, but I think it shouldn't be true.

The Reasons:
1. There are 10 people who can post on this blog, and only 3 of them can no longer post. But are you sure, they might be alittle busier, but if they don't talk to us on the phone, this is the only way for communication. Granted, these three people probably post the most, especially Rachael (you post hog)

2. Ben is coming back soon, so he will posting like crazy, maybe.

3. Because I decide who posts and doesn't posts.

Work is a lonely place to be...

but it's my last day, so I can probably deal with it. File cabinets are being carted out all around me while some of my coworkers stand by and watch. The tables once full of deforestation pamphlets are now empty and only the mohagany tabletops remain. People keep giving me random tasks like vacuuming or moving boxes. The walls once plastered with satellite images of Baghdad before and after the bombing, the Amazon rainforest over the years and other satellite maps are now just empty and way too white. The group in my office space is splitting up; half are moving across the hall and the upstairs are moving in. People are gossiping about who is taking whose stuff and other petty stuff like that. Earlier today, I had to train someone who is almost a grad student to do my work and I've had to train the higher-ups how to use the copy machine, how to send faxes and how to get the mail! (yes, they've been in this building for 10+years and don't know where the mail room is) So, today is just a weird day and I wish I was along with the crew going to get John. 3 hours 10 minutes left and I'll see ya'll tonight!!

So here I am...

Not doing anything. I am in the computer lab bored out of my mind. And I don't have any exams to study for. Well, I could study for Design and Communication, but no. I already took my math test. It only took me about 2 hours. And now Gmail isn't working, the only communication I do have is gone. No, I didn't lose my cell phone, even though you weren't thinking about that. I will be very bored come next week. I only have one exam next week and then what? Nothing. Well, I didn't warn you guys of this rant of my boredom, but you hardly comment on my posts anyway. Well, you will comment, maybe something other than what I am talking about, maybe Jennifer will comment saying she has a new post. Yup, there is no sign of intelligent life anyway, besides me of course. :) I will probably receive more comments about that last sentence than any other. Well, what movie was that from? The intelligent life sentence.

What a Walk...

I not only lose like 4 calories, I had three things happen to me in less than 10 minutes.

1. Well, I first noticed that I had tons of parking spots to choose from, that never happens when I drive to LCC, but the problem, I had to park in the "cheap" parking because someone forgot their change.

2. Someone asked for a quarter. I didn't have one.

3. Someone asked me if I wanted a Monster drink. I declined.

And all of that occured in less than 10 minutes.

And one more thing, two people were talking in the TLC building when I walked in, and one sounded a lot like Napoleon.

And now my story is to the present, when I am typing this amazing 10 minute adventure.

Confessions of a rachael

sorry, i keep posting. i haaaave to though. i finally put in my two weeks at work today...i hate doing things like that, so i put them off until the last minute. my boss had already heard it from someone else in the office though, which isn't good. he was like, "why are you leaving? do they pay good in yellowstone? are you leaving because you don't like it here?" i told him i wanted to get out and have some fun. he replied in all seriousness, "aren't you having fun here?" anyways...i took my writing final today and i just wish i knew now if i was going to get the gpa that tech wants from me or not so that i could plan. today at work, my boss and this other guy wanted me to see this video on global warming (with will ferrell) and how bush is so ignorant of it. and I watched it. i may be on the opposite side of all of you on global warming, but bush is still my boy. this clip really makes fun of him and religion and there's a quote where "bush" says, "of course it's warming up, the earth goes through warming cycles. why do you think adam and eve didn't wear any clothes?" because both my boss and the other guy have ph.d's and think they know it all, not to mention they already look down on me, i didn't feel like arguing with them. aren't i awful?

im most likely the laziest person youll meet

today anyway, and i blame it on giving blood. ive wanted to sleep all day...and ive accomplished absolutely nothing. i could have taken my writing final...but i didnt finish my papers. i guess ill take it tomorrow after work. and right now, i should be in math class, but im not. i'm trying to work up the ambition to run, but its cold out and cold weather makes me feel like staying inside. (freshmen 15 could be a problem at tech lol) thats about all i have to offer for a new post. no global warming/climate change anything allowed on my post!

28 hours

Well, didn't sleep at all (besides the ocassional dozing off in The Ring) last night. This morning, while I was watching cartoons, I dozed off again. I wonder how I will feel later today with the 28 hours of no sleeping.

Wednesday, April 19, 2006

So I'm here at work...chillin' while my data model processes. My face is having an allergic reaction to something. It's swollen, really red, itchy and hot on one side and spreading! I've never had a reaction to anything, so it's freaking me out. What do you do when you have a reaction? Just stick it out and wait till it goes away? If I smile, it feels weird. Anyway, I'll leave soon.
What I really want to post about...I'm trying to get into better shape, just to be healthy, but being healthy (and fitting into my summer clothes!) isn't a good enough incentive for me. Anyone want to train for a half-marathon/triathalon/duathalon with me?? Seriously! I've always wanted to and I think it would be great if I could be in on it with a couple of other people. I could probably even settle for just a 5K (3.1 mi) if people wanted to. See, the object wouldn't be to compete in these races, most people don't, they just do it for themselves. Completing the race is an accomplishment in itself. And we would have at least 3 months to prepare which is quite awhile. I've found some cool races both in Wyoming and in Michigan. Or Sleepy Hollow is holding the Lansing Legislator triathalon and half-triathalon again mid-August so that would be cool too. They even have these things called adventure races that are like marathon camping/hikin/biking/mapping even rock climbing races through the wilderness. Anyway, any takers for some physical activity?
