We have a new Pope.

Just like Craig said at Bible Study, Ratzinger is in. He chose the name Benedict XVI. Go Germans!

Yes!! I just heard too. I'm sooo happy that it's Ratzinger (if thats how you spell it)! He is going to be awesome, and ultra conservative like JP II. WYD will be totally awesome, because it will be his first as pope, and it will be in his home country. We are so blessed to have him as our new pope. I could talk about it forever. Benidict XVI. That's kind of a long name when you say it "Benidict the sixteenth." I can't wait to see what great things he is going to do for the Church.

This website (I don't think we can have tags or whatever in it) talks about if the Pope can choose his own name. We discussed this in Bible Study, but I guess, Craig didn't know exactly if the Pope can do that. I guess he can.
"He was, of course, free to pick from any of his 264 predecessors, use his own first name or come up with something new."

I saw Julie Chamberlain on the 6:00 news on channel 10. They were interviewing people who went to the mass at St. Mary's Cathedral in Lansing today.

That would be great to be on TV. Wait, I already have. Was she just in the background or was she getting interviewed too.

They were interviewing her.

I was watching the news before, after and during when he walked out. Man was the media mad. They were making all kinds of comments about how americans were disappointed, Ratzinger was way too conservative, you know the normaljunk...I am glad he was elected, and in a shorter time than usual.

I just saw Fox 17 news, and they had people from Aquinas being interviewed. Carmen was one of them.

I am pretty sure they are already ticked off. To bad for them.

like the "schism" that happened when the Episcopal church ordained a gay bishop and the rest of the Church of England got upset maybe? i dont think it will be that bad.. but maybe, i dont know. and its weird to me that so many Catholics are upset... i've always felt like being Catholic was to be ultra conservative. and thats jsut how it was. i dont get these crazy liberals who call themselves Catholic. to be liberal you have to fight the church on issues... and that doesnt seem like something Catholics do... fight the church? so yeah i m glad that we have a conservative pope. i hope things work out for him... and us... and the world. (rachael, lets hope 2006 is a long way off ;) )
