Rachael and I are supposed to play piano/sing at the Graduation Mass and i want wondering what some of your suggestions for songs might be. I've talked to Sarah about a few: "Changes" by David Bowie and "Break Away" Kelly Clarkston" please give suggestions of any appropriate graduation songs (preferably not Vitamin C's "Graduation Song" because that is lame and not Greenday's "Good Riddance" because its been done)
PS- Great picture ain't it?

Kenric, awsome selection! AMAZING piano part (altho Van Halen w/o Eddie's blazing guitar solo is kind of painful to think about) and SO much fun to sing, but... do u really think Rachael is going to go for that? its for church. I'll sing most n e thing... but.. yeah. thanx for the great suggestion. great song. keep giving more suggestions.

(Words by Van Halen)

Don't wanna wait 'til tomorrow
Why put it off another day?
One by one, little problems
Build up, and stand in our way. Oh

One step ahead, one step behind it
Now ya gotta run to get even
Make future plans I'll dream about yesterday, hey!
Come on turn, turn this thing around

(Right now) Hey! It's your tomorrow
(Right now) Come on, it's everything
(Right now) Catch your magic moment
Do it right here and now
It means everything

Miss a beat, you lose a rhythm
An nothin' falls into place. No!
Only missed by a fraction
Slipped a little off your pace. Oh!

The more things you get, the more you want
Just trade in one for another
Workin' so hard to make it easy
Whoa, got to turn. Come on, turn this thing around

(Right now) Hey, it's your tomorrow
(Right now) Come on, it's everything
(Right now) catch that magic moment
Do it right here and now
It means everything

Said a lie to me
Right now
What are ya waitin' for? Oh! Yeah!
Right now

(Guitar Solo)

(Right now) Hey! It's your tomorrow
(Right now) Come on, it's everything
(Right now) Catch that magic moment
And do it right, right now (Right now)
Oh, right now!

It's what's happening
Right here and now
Right now, it's right now
Oh!
Tell me, what are ya waitin' for?
Turn this thing around

If you guys are looking for something to play in Church, maybe you could go for either I Will Be Here For You, or Place In This World, both by Michael W. Smith.

Sarah said...

sorry Ben, I have to draw the line at "I will be here for you" that song annoys the heck out of me. The other one is fine though
And I am all for that Keane(spelling?) song that I love, Jennifer you know what I'm talking about.

Sarah said...

And what's wrong with "Blv of broken dreams"? My dad's class song was "dust in the wind" (kansas)

Unknown said...

I was not making the MWS suggestions because I like the songs a lot, but because I thought they would be appropriate. The Keane (correct spelling) song that I believe you are talking about is Somewhere Only We Know.

How about a little Coldplay - Everything's Not Lost

Sarah said...

No it's not " Somewhere only we know" although I like that song too, its another one. And Cold play is good. I still think that Dust in the Wind would be funny, you know, dust we are and to dust we shall return. Yeah sorry that's pathetic.

I bet it's Everybody's Changing

Sarah said...

Yeah that sounds like the words in the refrain.

strangely enough i actually did consider that song (since its awsome) but it sounds like its from n old person.. and something about uh.. touching?

I love Memory too, and I'd love to hear it sung in a place with such good acustics (also any Phantom of the Opera song, as we already know works well ;)
But yeah, those aren't good songs for a Bacculaureate (however that's spelled)Mass.

Sarah said...

Hey what about "Dream On" by you know who.

Jenn said...

aerosmith.. not eminem.. eew :P (giggles with sarah... sarah.. do u giggle?)

Sarah said...

Well I love both versions, but I'd have to say go with eminem....yeah in church. That's so wrong, ok go with aerosmith....mmmmmmmm no I don't giggle, ever ever. Why does everyone think that that song is BAD, it's not, end of story.
