ANSWER ! ! !: Yeah, 1990 and 1989 are the number of bills, so of course 1990 American dollar bills are worth more than 1989 American dollar bills.
Ok, anyway. Here it is. Like before, no hints, no multiple guesses. Hopefully it is harder this time.

QUESTION! ! !: Tom, the notorious German drug dealer, was managing to smuggle a fortune out of Germany and make large deposits in his Swiss bank account. The attempts by the authorities to catch him proved futile. Twelve times each year, Tom drove out of Germany in his new Mercedes, wearing designer clothes and expensive jewelry. Each time, customs would search him and his car. All they ever found were a few stamped business letters, several changes of clothes, banking books and toiletries. When Tom returned several days later he drove the same car and wore the same clothes and jewelry. How was he managing to smuggle out his ill-gotten wealth?

Thank you for using my name on this contest, Kenric. Too bad it won't help me. I will think forever on this, but that is not me. I will just say, since Luis calls me a magician, I use my special powers to take my money to the bank. That isn't wrong, Kenric.

he was smugling out himself and the car and whatnot... that was the fortune he was smugling. not the money or drugs.. just his stuff.

The toilet paper that he had (part of his toiletries) was made of money.

Tom said...

You are wrong. I was the only one that was right.

Tom, the drug dealer, took the fortune and spent it all in Germany. All the expensive items he bought he drove to Switzerland. There in Switzerland, he sold his Mercedes and jewelry. Then he deposited the money in the Swiss Bank. He kept buying the same things each time in Germany and sold it for the same amount he bought it for in Switzerland. The money was never in his car just things with equivalent value to the amount of profit he made in Germany off of drugs. This isn't the same as the car and jewelry being his fortune because he bought and then sold so he could get the amount of money his fortune was worth back.

adam you think too much.....

Tom said...

And I think too little.

Adam said...

do i think too much or does everybody else just not think too little

Sarah said...

what do you mean us not thinking too little. that's thinking just right. and it doesn't prove your point and I need to get a life.

Actually, Adam and Jennifer both had the closest guesses. The correcct answer is that he was smuggling out precious stamps on the business letters. Jennifer was pretty close so I don't know what to do now.

Adam said...

Are the precious stamps the fortune, or did he buy them with the fortune?

Jenn said...

hey adam when is your birthday? we could share one :D
