Naïve or is it really possible to be friends with a guy?
No one else posts but me. Oh well. It annoys me that people think it's impossible/not allowed to be friends and go out (as in go places) with a guy without dating. So you go out with a guy, not a date, just going out like you would go out with a girl except (gasp) it's a guy?? Is it a date just because it's a guy, not a girl? I don't think so. My family does. Tell me what you think. (Jennifer, I may need some help on this one.)

Ok, I don't know if Rachael was just asking Jennifer, or what. But, coming from a guy who has never gone on a date, or just go out (not dating) with a girl, I would say it would be a date. Rachael, if it is just you and a guy, I would say, I don't know, it would be a date. But once again, my disclaimer is I haven't been on either. So, if it is a group, no, it is not a date, you know, because Kenric, you, Sarah, and I have been on these kind of things. It isn't a date. But yeah, you might hate me for saying that, but that is only my opinion, and it doesn't matter too much, because like I said, I have never been on a date before. And I am done rambling on!
Ok, here's what I think. For someone who isn't too outgoing (sorry, but like you) and hasn't ever been on a date, going out with a girl (even as a friend) might be a date. For someone who is a little more nonchalant and has been around guys more often, it's just going out.
So, man, I am going to go on a date no matter what.

no... guys and girls can go out on non-dates. what i've been doing with kevin rnt dates... we go to movies and eat food and hang out, but they rnt dates. the thing about non-dates is... sometimes they lead to real dates. BUT, not always. i've been shopping with my friend matt and we certainly dont plan on dating (no, he is not gay). If you are going out somewhere with a guy and he doesnt pay, its not a date. (unless u have loser guys who dont pay for things, in which case u get rid of him) lol. also, as a note to the tom who commented about groups... sometimes groups go out and it IS a date, so the group rule isnt very fool-proof. its the intent... a date implies more than just friend (maybe not much more.. but still, i think we all know the difference) and guys and girl can go out without the "more-than-a-friend" factor, so therefore, girls and guys can go out on non-dates.
i hope that was sufficient... but probably not.
as a side note... sometimes i go out and the guy pays and it isnt a date... guys with lots of money (like my friend tim) just like to pay for things. sometimes girls and guys will also take turns paying on non-dates.. much like girl-girl friends might also do. or something like "i'll drive if u pay for my ticket" etc.
thanks jennifer ;) very well said. i can't add much to it except yeah, like you said, even if the guy pays, it's still not a date, because some guys want to pay, not to try to win over your heart, just because they want to.
yeah, but watchout if he pays... sometimes lines can get blurred easily. i should write an advice column...

man, Jennifer, I didn't notice that there are no verification words, I was so used to them, I am suprised I didn't catch it. So you are the one that changed the template?
I should put the "older Tom" instead. Or not, Dang it, there will always be confusion, until, well until the person who doesn't exist who takes the name Tom Shannon changes his name to Tommy.

some western movie?? yeah, daniel does have it worse. my apologies to him for being a jerk and telling him to stop complaining about wanting to leave...i hope he's at home taking a nap right now. i might have it worse because all morning, i've been processing generic binary data and that's what i'll be doing all pretty much all afternoon. my brain isn't working very well and i look stoned. i even had instant coffee this morning! gross. anyway, sorry you didn't sleep well tom...hehehe. that's just funny.
